Black Wolf Meadows
Midway between Timothy Lake and the Roaring River Wilderness lies Black Wolf Meadows, a small meadow along the Anvil Lake Trail. The secluded meadow is home to patches of Explorer’s Gentian, a brilliantly purple flower growing up through the grasses. The trail also leads to the small Anvil Lake. When I visited I spooked a pair of Sandhill Cranes and spent some time watching the newts float about. The larger Dinger Lake is just to the east and is accessible by hiking up the roads and through the forest for a small bit.
