Craters of the Moon National Monument

Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho preserves a vast expanse of overlapping lava flows dotted with cinder cones rising out of the pumice and sage brush dotted landscape, where incredibly dark skies for stargazing and several short and easy trails make accessible otherwise challenging terrain and host extensive interpretive displays detailing the rich geologic and cultural history of the area.  Backpackers can explore further on trails into the vast expanse of the National Monuments lonely Wilderness Areas.  This map covers the developed area and trails on the northern part of the Monument on the south side of US 20.
